WAH LUM ACADEMY YOUTH PROGRAM (AGES 7-13)
An inclusive space uniquely taught by experienced martial artists
Program Overview: In our Youth program, children aged 7 to 13 learn Kung Fu; in addition, they will:
Build Physical Intelligence and Strength through Kung Fu Training
Train mind, body, and spirit through learning Kung Fu skills, interpretations and applications
Learn self-defense: Gain life skills, stamina, and confidence to defend oneself
Gain balance, strength, flexibility, and reflexes through the training of increasingly difficult sequences of defense and attack combinations
Build Social Skills, Confidence, Self Esteem, Perseverance and Leadership
Internalize the importance of grit; achieve personal and team spirit; enjoy screen-free socio-emotional learning and teamwork through opportunities to compete and perform as a team
Cultivate and develop leadership through a culture where every team member supports and demands excellence from each other
Learn to Appreciate Chinese Kung Fu Culture, Values and Traditions
Learn Kung Fu cultures and traditions, and basic Cantonese language (counting and martial arts-related words and phrases)
Immerse into a culture of traditional Chinese martial & family values of respect, kindness, fellowship and more
Gain Emotional Intelligence and Discipline
Understand that: “Kung Fu” means hard work, improvements are through time and effort, skills are earned through dedicated and disciplined practice; appreciate hard work over instant gratification
Achieve growth through multi-generational learning and interaction (relating and working with younger youth and adults); older Kung Fu siblings model positive behaviors and values
