In this period, when it is more crucial than ever to stand for justice and freedom, Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy has served as one of the most unique, inclusive, and safe community-building platforms for diverse individuals, across generations and ethnicities. 

For two decades, Wah Lum Academy has taught and performed for hundreds and thousands to promote the traditional arts of lion dance, dragon dance, kung fu, and tai chi. Though we are a small business, we have always operated more similarly to a community resource. We have shown up for countless community events, fundraisers, celebrations, rallies, protests, campaigns, and have housed the birth of three nonprofit organizations.

In addition to hosting classes for our diverse body of students, our school has served as a site for mutual aid food distribution and storage space during the pandemic, community gathering space for a number of nonprofits and community groups, public art workshops, creation sites, and more.

During a time of increased fear for Asian Americans, we offered free community self-defense training across the state. We have been, and continue to be, a leader in advocacy for the recognition and celebration of Lunar New Year, both civically and educationally in schools, museums, stadiums, and more, across MA.
